Tickets on sale this morning (1/7) for NYC's Broadway Week!

Broadway Week returns with 2-for-1 Tickets to popular shows

The always-in-gear NYC tourist board is trying to kick those infamous January Great White Way Blahs (or the JGWWB as its known) with 2-for-1 tickets deals on 19 Broadway plays and musical starting Tuesday, January 22 through Thursday February 7th. Sure, that’s more like three weeks, but we won’t complain.

The initiative was started a few years back as a way to beet the post-holiday slump in tickets sales and combat general city-wide winter-doldrums. It has become a wonderful way to get inexpensive tickets for some amazing shows. There are surprisingly few restrictions and an impressive variety of high quality shows from legendary long-running musicals (like Phantom of the Opera) to popular new comers  (like Newsies).

So, why are we telling you about this so far in advance? Because tickets for this discount go on sale this morning at 10:30 AM and the most popular shows nad dates will fill up fast! More info and links can be found here!
Worth pointing out that this is part of a universal tourist partnership by the city and the theaters rather than an offering from the usual suspicious and concerning off-market ticket agencies. This is all part of Mayor Mike's hard push to create a NYC Tourism Machine that is a never-ending, gear-grinding beast.

Two-For-One Broadway Tickets - The Real Deal, Baby

In case the good word hasn't reached you yet, NYC is trying to kick the January Great White Way Blahs (or the JGWWB as its known) with two-for-one deals on 18 Broadway Shows from now through February 10. There are surprisingly few restrictions and this is a quality collection of stalwarts. Note that this is part of a universal tourist partnership by the city and the theaters and not offered through the suspicious and concerning off-market ticket agencies.

Also, to take things one step further, you can enjoy Kids' Night on Broadway the week of Feb 6th through the 10th which allows you to get a free ticket for any child age 6–18 when you purchase one full-priced adult ticket to the same show.

This is all part of Mayor Mike's hard push to reach a goal of 50 Million (!) visitors to NYC by the end of 2011. Since Winter Months are a traditionally sluggish time, this is a great change to take advantage.

In the end, its a nice change of pace from a typically expensive doings of seeing a show. Also strikes before the hot plays and musicals that will get Tony nods open. The Big Adventure picks The Lion King, The Phantom of the Opera, Memphis and Million Dollar Quartet as best options.

Final Itinerary for The Salute To The W Line

Below is a fine, detailed and well spelled list of where we will be and when on Saturday, May 30th...

1:00 PMWhitehall Street Stop – Ulysses Bar – 95 Pearl Street.
We’ll begin the Big Adventure at a great downtown pub. Spacious and Historic, Ulysses is best known for their drink specials, great food and raw bar (which is great because there is nothing Brooke loves more than uncooked fish) Brave the meandering downtown corridors and walk straight up either Pearl or Stone street.

We’ll then trek through Washington Square Park for a bevy of events that may or may not be happening. Free Street Fairs, events and such are tricky like that.

3:30 PMUnion Square Stop– Max Brenner’s – 841 Broadway. Get ready to enjoy some of the finest confections in New York as prepared by the legendary “Chocolate By The Bald Man” at the Israeli chocolatier’s largest US Location.

5:00 PM 28th Street Stop – Museum of Sex – 253 Fifth Avenue at 27th Street. Current exhibits include The Sex Lives of Animals, Sex and The Moving Images, The Sex Lives of Robots (?!) and more. And….the filter for all of your work interneting just sent this whole e-mail right to your IT administration team.

7:15 PM – Broadway Stop (Astoria) – Break– 32-04

Broadway at 32nd Street (upstairs). More than just a Pool Hall, it’s a large pool hall with never ending drink specials, an excellent pub menu, cheap billiards and, of course, The Inaugural Brooke and Phil Air Hockey Tournament! No Holds Barred! Winner Takes All!

9:30 PM – Ditmars Stop – Bohemian Beer Hall Garden– 2919 24th Avenue at 29th Street. It all culminates here. Voted again and again, one of the best bars in New York City. Most of you have a great Beer Garden story. If you don’t yet, join us, grab a seat on picnic bench, a stein of Czech beer and prepare to enjoy.
