Free in NYC Today-The Conan O’Brien Art Exhibit

Every day, we post a one minute guide to one great thing happening today in New York City. We list doings that are inexpensive or completely free, social and 100% unique to New York. Designed for the curious local or savvy tourist, we aim to expose the eccentric and obvious all over NYC. Check back every morning to crack open a new nutshell

The Conan O’Brien Art Exhibit
Do you support Team Coco?  In celebration of Conan O’Brien and his talk show returning to NYC for one week next month, The New York Museum of Conan Art (or the Coco MoCa) is now open.

The Coco MoCa is a temporary art gallery located on the 2nd floor at The Time Warner center at Columbus Circle. The gallery features fan-art inspired by the cartoonish muse that is Conan O’Brien. The installations are diverse in style and medium, hilarious, and in some cases, show some real talent.

The free exhibit also features audio commentary by O'Brien & co-host Andy Richter, various giveaways, and “The Conan Loveseat Experience” which is apparently, “a giant robot couch that moves around, gives you a photo and more”. Just another sample of the surreal lunacy that is the trademark Team Coco humor.

When: Now through Thursday, November 3rd – 9:00 AM- 9:00 PM
Where: The Shops at Columbus Circle, 2nd Floor
Cost: Free
Category: Museums, Art Gallery, Comedy, Pop Culture, TV Shows, Surreal Sculptures
Good For: Groups, Shopping, Visitors to Central Park or Lincoln Center

You can lead a War Horse to the Lincoln Center Fountain for water...

We have to admit: The Big Adventure kind of wants to buy tickets to see the new drama “War Horse” at Lincoln Center Theater just for this crazy looking horse!

Previews began yesterday, March 15th at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. The production officially opens on April 14 and runs through June 26, 2011 an impressive open ended run that continues at least through August of 2012.  Get tickets here

Also, interestingly enough, the Steven Spielberg-directed War Horse film will open in theaters later this year on December 28. The Big Adventure is sure that War Horse is a stellar play that will get positive reviews after its move from London's West End to Broadway, but let's not loose focus here: That horse is one spectacular, insane beast galloping into action in this play. No image alone was sufficient, so click any of the pictures or view the video of the commercial spot for full effect.
